Growing Crystals

So the other day, I watched the following video on the process that the scientists at the National Ignition Laboratory use to grow large, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals for use in this fusion facility. This piqued my interest in what it would take to grow my own crystals.

While it looks like I probably won't be able to grow my own quartz crystals, at least not without a huge investment in equipment, there are lots of other crystals I can grow. I am definitely giving the Bismuth crystals a try.
